Scope
Work with a team from the shop floor to increase the flow of material within the machine shop and improve the workshop organisation through the implementation of 5S techniques.
Method
An initial training session was run to introduce the shop floor personnel to the concepts of 5S.
The 5S tools and techniques were then rolled out onto the shopfloor over 3 days.
Options and Recommendations
Results
A reduction in floor space required.
Much more pleasant working environment.
Finding tools and materials is at least 30% faster.
Further Actions
Work place organisation has been implemented in an additional area within the company to great effect.
Product lead time has been reduced from 1 month to 3 days.
