It also serves commercial markets with inertial products for automobiles and the innovative SegwayTM Human Transporter.

Naim Audio, based in Salisbury, are renowned for the design and manufacture of a premium range hi-fi and AV equipment. South West MAS were able to help train and introduce manufacturing best practice into the company from the shop floor upwards.
Trio Skips and Hooks Ltd.
Trio Design and Engineering employs 110 people at its headquarters in Gloucester. Opportunities were identified to improve process flow, workplace layout and general organisation, as well as materials management.
Stanley Security Systems
Blick Communications Ltd is one of Europe's leading manufacturers, and pioneers, of new technology in radio-based products and services. The South West MAS were invited to work with the Blick team to introduce a new way of working for the company. They wanted to move from large batch manufacture with long lead times to small batch short lead time (just in time) manufacturing. The aim was to reduce inventory and to become more responsive to customer demands.
DEZAC Group Ltd.
DEZAC manufacture health and beauty products through retail outlets such as Boots, Argos and TV shopping channels to name but a few. Main Processes: Plastic moulding of components, Assembly, Warehousing and distribution South West MAS support requested for a programme of change to introduce: Better utilisation of space, Increased output, Improving material flow and development of team leaders.
Teledyne Geophysical Instruments
At the Gloucester site the Teledyne team specialise in the repair and upgrading of seismic arrays. After meeting with the team at Teledyne Instruments it was agreed that an opportunity for improvement for the business would be in the area of process flow and workplace organisation
City Engineering Bristol Ltd.
A Bristol stainless steel and aluminium company is on track to save £50,000 in just a few months thanks to the South West Manufacturing Advisory Service's Advanced Engineering Skills Programme.

Micro Precision are a small precision medical devices, design and manufacturing company in Frome. South West MAS Worked with a team from the shop floor to increase the flow of material within the machine shop and improve the workshop organisation through the implementation of 5S techniques.

XYZ Machine Tools
XYZ Machine Tools operate through a UK network of five strategically located showroom and training centres supported with nationwide teams of service, programming & technical engineers. nitial scope was to identify and implement improvements to the loading and prioritisation of machine builds on the shop-floor. Improvements in lead time of machine build through the factory and increased on-time deliveries to customers. Develop production management skills and metrics associated with production progress.

Quality Component Engineering Limited is a sub-contract engineering manufacturing company, producing high quality machined components to a broad customer base within petrochemical, defence, marine, telecommunications and automotive sectors.
Atlantic Inertial Systems
Atlantic Inertial Systems (AIS) is the leading provider of precision inertial sensors and subsystems to the automotive, industrial, commercial, aerospace and military markets. A team of three people attended the SWMAS Six-Sigma Greenbelt Programme. As a 13 day programme interspaced with project work the AIS team chose their project early on and worked on it through to their Greenbelt Certification.
ArjoWiggins Fine Papers
A paper mill in the heart of Devon that aims to fight against counterfeiting, forgery, theft and grey markets; with 200 years of know-how and expertise in manufacturing security papers. Having attended a Six-Sigma Management Awareness Day, the management team decided to send two Arjowiggins employees, Andy Coker and Paul Vinnecombe on to the next available Six-Sigma Programme
Rittal C S M Ltd
Rittal-CSM is a manufacturing subsidiary of the Rittal Group which is itself a part of the Friedhelm Loh Group. Rittal is the largest manufacturer of industrial and data communication enclosures worldwide. Rittal-CSM had been developing its internal Six-Sigma capability, in addition to its Lean Manufacturing and Supply Chain initiatives. These three areas are interlinked and the reduction of variability within the processes is key to improving quality and reducing costs.
Kaba (UK) Ltd
Kaba is a world leader in the application of Total Access for integrated security solutions. Having worked on several Kaba Group projects embracing some lean thinking the vision of Kaba (UK) management team and in particular, Alan Stevenson, the Technical Director, was to fully incorporate and develop a lean operation for the UK organisation.
The Barden Corporation (UK)
Barden is the pre-eminent leader in super precision ball bearing manufacturing in the world today. Barden was very keen to develop its internal Six-Sigma capability and therefore contacted SWMAS to see if it was running a Six-Sigma programme and immediately offered to host it.
SFL
SFL manufactures a wide range of flue, chimney and exhaust systems that are used and specified by many organisations throughout the world for the extraction needs of today's commercial and domestic appliances. The attendance of four people from SFL (Steve Slade, Steve Whitten, Peter Ryan and Sami Caglar) on to the SWMAS Six-Sigma Greenbelt Programme.
Victoria Sawmills
Established in 1887, Victoria Sawmills is a family business and one of the largest independent timber merchants in the South West. It is committed to ensuring sustainability for the global and local environment, its customers and employees. Within the Merton Manufacturing Facility are three carpenters, from which Andy Piper was put forward to attend the SWMAS Operational Leadership Programme (OLP) to develop his Management and Leadership Skills.
