Responsible manufacturing made easy
Manufacturers wanting to run a successful business whilst minimising environmental and social impact now have the opportunity to attend a FREE cost-focused carbon and sustainable workshop in the South East.
The Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) South East have teamed up with Giraffe Innovation Ltd to provide manufacturers with two unique practical workshops focused on how to profit from carbon footprinting and sustainable design.
A unique surgery will also be available for those individuals interested in having their company, product, packaging and marketing material scrutinised by a panel of experts, including Rob Holdway, eco-design specialist and Mark Dowling, EU legislation & sustainable business expert.
The workshops will take place at the following locations from 9am until 3.30pm:
Workshop 1 – 29 September 2009, RBS Williams Conference Centre, Wantage
Workshop 2 – 13 October 2009, The Madejski Stadium, Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Reading
Workshop 3 - 26 November 2009, Azur at The Marina Pavillion, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex
Nik Brown, Senior MAS South East Specialist, said: “Following the government’s recent announcement that £250 million will be invested in low carbon business opportunities and innovation under the Low Carbon Industrial Strategy, it is crucial that manufacturers look to improve their environmental performance, not only in response to legislation but also to satisfy customer expectations for green credentials higher up the supply chain.”
Each workshop will include topics on EU Environmental Legislation, green / ethical marketing, carbon footprinting and labelling, CSR reporting, CRC – Carbon Reduction Commitment, eco-design, EMS – Environmental Management Systems and lean production.
Brown continued: “It is important that energy usage and waste management become key priorities and MAS is working closely with manufacturers to understand and realise the actual business benefits of going greener.”
