Flexing growth through strategic planning at Keaflex
Keaflex, manufacturer of precision rubber mouldings, has developed a new business model utilising the strategic planning skills of the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) South East. Set to increase turnover and profitability whilst maintaining the future stability and growth of the business, Keaflex now has a real vision for the future direction and growth of the company.
Based in Bordon, Hampshire, Keaflex, part of the James Walker Group, employs over 45 people and has over 30 successful years in business working with its clients to deliver on both quality and value for money. Keaflex has sought to improve its operations over the years to keep up with increasing market competition and to become more responsive to customer needs and expectations.
Its most recent improvement project involved developing a management level strategic plan to develop the capabilities of the company in order to maintain the future stability and growth of the business, specifically looking at areas including new business development, sales, purchasing, new product development and customer service through the MAS South East Strategic Planning Programme.
Nik Brown, Senior MAS South East Specialist, said: “Working with Andy Tuffield and the existing team through a combination of senior management team workshops and off-site sessions designed to stretch the existing skills and experience of the workforce, Keaflex were able to develop a more substantial change programme beyond the short term gains, addressing the larger and longer term challenges and opportunities facing the business – I actively encouraged Keaflex to take control of its own growth programme.”
Nik worked closely with Andy, acting as a sounding board, validating and challenging thought processes whilst bringing new ideas to the table and as a result the change programme continually evolved to reflect the pace of progress being achieved. A new company vision has been created, setting out long term business objectives broken down into functional objectives for each team member to deliver against.
Andy Tuffield, Managing Director, Keaflex, said: “Keaflex has a great relationship with MAS South East and to date we have implemented a number of successful operational improvement projects. We are now in a strong stable position to confidently move our business forward opening up new business opportunities, delving into new markets and offering up new solutions to our customers – maintaining our profile and position within the competitive precision mouldings industry.”
